The three-story, 36,800 sf building incorporates the most advanced energy-efficient systems available and was the first municipal facility on Long Island to have attained a Silver Standard from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The building features a 60-KW photovoltaic roof top solar power system to generate 8 percent of the building’s electricity on its own, making it the largest municipal solar-powered system in the region. Other features include high efficiency chiller and condensing boiler with pipe system, automatic faucets, and waterless urinals for water conservation, the most energy efficient lighting systems available, and extensive weatherproofing round out the building’s compliment of energy-efficient technologies.
